Bridging

Required Equipment

  • Pillow for neck support as needed.

Starting Position

  • Lying on a firm surface or bed with the legs in a hook lying position (knees bent).

Procedure

  • Bridging consists of lifting the buttocks up off and then in a controlled fashion lowering the hips back to the starting hook lying position.

Coaching Keys

  • The movement should be smooth and controlled.  Avoid any jerking or ballistic type movement.

How It Should Feel

  • You should feel this move working the hamstrings, buttocks and hips as you raise your pelvis from the starting position
