Floor to Stand

Required Equipment

  • Flat surface.  You may want a carpeted or other lightly padded surface as you may need to be on your knees at some point.  A chair or other “support” object nearby may also be helpful.

Starting Position

  • Start in standing and lower yourself to the floor…

Procedure

  • Floor to stand consists of moving from a seated (an advanced version would have you on your back) to a kneeling position.  Once in a kneeling position you then transition to a half kneel and then to a standing position.

Coaching Keys

  • Think of Floor to Stand as a series of smaller movements.  Move from seated to kneeling and then kneeling to standing.  Try various ways to move from one position to another to see which works best for you.  If you have trouble, use a support object for help.  Remember in a scenario where there is no support item nearby you may decide to crawl to a nearby item.

How It Should Feel

  • This is a simple but critical movement.  Getting from the floor to standing is critical and often someone that finds themselves on the floor may be injured from a fall.  Practice this one with the outcome in mind!
