Seated in chair with feet positioned under or slightly behind a neutral position
Procedure
Using your arms to assist as little as necessary, lean forward pressing down through your heels and come to a standing position. Slowly lower yourself back into the chair.
Coaching Keys
Standing from a chair is largely leaning forward and pushing through your heels! If you are having trouble, try bringing your feet back a bit while seated in the chair.
Remember to SLOWLY lower yourself back into the chair rather than “dropping” back onto the seat pan.
How It Should Feel
Like a forward lean smoothly transitioning to a standing position.
